Nigel Mulleady is currently the Detective Chief Superintendent leading the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB) and is the Head of Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) – Ireland. He is the strategic lead for An Garda Síochána’s approach to fraud, economic crime, bribery and corruption. He is currently a member of the general board of the Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA), the Advisory Council against Economic Crime and Corruption and is a delegate to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

His background in An Garda Síochána is primarily in investigations at national level including serious and organised crime, counter terrorism and Garda Anti-Corruption. He has also led the Garda Professional Standards Unit (GPSU) focusing on policy and compliance. He holds an MA from University of Limerick in Serious Criminal Investigation and a BA (Hons.) Public Management.
