Social Media Policy

The CEA operates on various social media platforms, e.g., LinkedIn and Twitter. On those platforms, we issue periodic updates to our followers, including news, press statements, speeches, topical items and information on Court proceedings etc.

Our social media accounts are not an appropriate channel through which to submit complaints or expressions of concern. Rather, complaints and expressions of concern should be submitted to complaints@cea.gov.ie, while protected disclosures can be submitted to protected.disclosures@cea.gov.ie. Our standard Complaint Form can be accessed from our Forms page.

We attach a high level of importance to assisting the public (where that is possible/permissible) and set ourselves high customer service standards in that regard. However, our social media accounts are managed by CEA staff members and, while those on social media are entitled to share their views about the CEA, we ask that they do so in a polite and respectful manner. Abuse of our staff, including abusive language, profanity, defamatory comments, threats, remarks designed to provoke or upset or intended to incite will not be tolerated.
